HELLO AND WELCOME
Welcome to Adam Husting’s website. On this page you’ll find a quick summary of his design workflow. This technique is applied to most of the software design projects Adam works on. Feel free to contact him if you have questions.

METHOD
This graphic depicts the average UX SYSTEM Adam uses to build each experience. This page will attempt to explain each step Adam takes in his work.
THE STORY
As an author and writer, Adam will often attempt to find the underlying ARMATURE or story behind a project. This gives the end result a sort of “character” that otherwise would be lacking.
1 — DEFINING THE PROBLEM
First, the designer attempts to discover if there is a real problem that needs to be solved. Sometimes, this means reaching a bit further to find troublesome issues that are often ignored in favor of easier solutions. This is often called a WICKED PROBLEM.

2 — USER RESEARCH
Conducting user research can mean many things. Sometimes this means creating PERSONAS. Othertimes it can mean INTERVIEWS, FOCUS GROUPS, and SURVEYS. The method that is ultimately chosen depends on the needs of the project at hand.

3 — IA AND WIREFRAMES
After research and user studies return needed data, it is important to build a foundation for any future work. Proper INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE and WIREFRAMES keep mistakes to a minimum and helps collaboration between different parties.

4 — LO-FI AND TESTING
Only after good wireframing and information architecture can LOW-FIDELITY concepts be created. Adam uses these mockups to conduct paper-prototype testing.

5 — HI-FI AND DESIGN
Once low-fidelity designs have passed testing and app user-flows are solidified, HIGH-FIDELITY designs can be built and distributed between development and engineering teams.

6 — REVIEW AND SUPPORT
During this stage, the designer is available to help a project or product succeed. As the item makes it way through other channels, the entire UX process can be REPEATED to solve issues along the way.
